I Know Leopard sign worldwide distribution deal with Believe
Sydney trio I Know Leopard have both released a new single and inked a worldwide distribution deal with French powerhouse Believe.
That’s right, it’s safe to say the band have had quite a week following the announcement of their exciting news. Not only have they released their first new music since 2019, but they’ve nabbed a coveted record deal to boot.
Their single ‘Lover Automatic’ proves that their knack for infectious pop is as present as ever, as they move on to a lo-fi hip-hop aesthetic following their previous ’70s soft rock-inspired sound.
The track was co-produced and mixed by Konstantin Kersting, who has previously worked with Aussie music mainstays like Tones & I, The Jungle Giants, Mallrat, The Rubens, Tia Gostelow and WAAX.
Along with the song, the band have also already dropped its music video, which features animation by Sydney designer Luke Saunders.
In a video as unique as their sound, band members Luke O’Loughlin, Jenny McCullagh and Rosie Fitzgerald are depicted as vampires travelling through a psychedelic landscape.
Meanwhile, head of Believe for Australia and New Zealand Mick Tarbuk revealed the label is “thrilled” to be working with the band and “looking forward to sharing ‘Lover Automatic’ with the world.”
As if that wasn’t enough, the band will soon return to the stage for their first live shows in 18 months. Set to hit up Melbourne and Sydney next month, they’ll also be joined by special guest Georgia June.
