Huskii nabs #1 spot on ARIA Albums Chart
Wollongong-born, Sydney-based rapper, Huskii, has scored his first #1 on the ARIA Charts with his Antihero album.
It becomes the first Australian album to reach the top spot this year.
He said he owes everything to his fans.
“Thank you for coming our and supporting,” he added. “Love yas.”
ARIA chief executive, Annabelle Herd, said she can’t wait to see which other homegrown artists will top the Albums Chart this year.
“I am thrilled to congratulate Huskii on his first ARIA #1 in this week’s Albums Chart, and for being our first Australian #1 of the year,” she said.
“Huskii’s achieved an incredible feat for an artist who has never appeared on the chart before, proving the Australian music business is still alive, well and constantly surfacing fresh talent.”
The album, out through Island Records Australia, includes singles ‘Ruin My Life’, ‘Heroin Rap’ and ‘Toxic’.
The seven-track LP was put together closely with Sydney multi-instrumentalist producer Tasker, and also features fellow Sydney rapper Mic Pompei, UK artist Grubbo, Sydney’s Ides, and South African-born, Perth-based rapper Shadow.
Co-producers on the album include David Versace, Allan McConnell, Lewis Hosie and Jay Orient.
On the ARIA Singles Chart, PNAU’s ‘Cold Heart’ with Elton John and Dua Lipa climbed back to #1.
