Hilltop Hoods have “stepped down” from their label Golden Era Records, remain with UMA
Hilltop Hoods will no longer operate Golden Era Records, the record label they started almost ten years ago.
In a statement posted to Facebook, the Hoods announced that they’ve “stepped down” from the pioneering label, “both as artists and owners.”
The label will continue to operate without them,and they’ll be moving away from operations side of things to focus on their families andmusic.
Sources familiar with the changes tellTMNthat Hilltop Hoods will remain within the Universal Music Australia (UMA) family.
“We started GE in order to create a home for ourselves and our friends,” said Suffa, Pressure and DJ Debris.
“Over the next nine years we were lucky enough to be surrounded by some of the most talented artists in the country and release some albums that we’re really proud of.
“But as our families grow we find ourselves with less and less time for extra-curricular activities. The time has come to step away and focus on our children and our music.
They announced that their friend and current Operations Manager Ben Martin will continue to run the label, while the Hoods “will continue to support Golden Era artists as friends, mentors and fans.”
They also revealed that a new albumis in the works: “We’ll be going quiet for a little while as we’re currently working on a new Hoods album, due for release in 2018.”
Golden Era Records continues to house artists including Briggs, Vents, A.B. Original, Funkoars and more.
Earlier this month, Hilltop Hoods 2016 releaseDrinking From The Sun, Walking Under Stars Restrung officially went platinum, with the boys celebrating by releasing a deluxe edition boxset.
