Hermitude, Courtney Barnett lead AIR Awards nominations
Hermitude, Courtney Barnett, #1 Dads and Vance Joy lead the nominations for the 10thannualCarlton DryIndependent MusicAwards.
Announced this morning by the Australian Independent Record Labels Association (AIR), past winners Hermitude are up for four Awards: Best Independent Artist, Best Independent Single/EP (for The Buzz) and Best Independent Album and Best Independent Dance/Electronic Album (for Dark Night Sweet Light). In 2012 the Sydney duo took out the Best Independent Dance/Electronica Album award for Hyperparadise.
Last year’s Best Independent Artist winner, Courtney Barnett is again up for the coveted award, alongside #1 Dads, Chet Faker, Hermitude and Vance Joy. The Melbourne export is also up for Best Independent Album (Sometimes I Sit and Think, andSometimesI Just Sit) and is nominated twice in the Best Independent Single/EP category (for Depreston and Pedestrian At Best).
Taylor Swift’s global support act Vance Joy received three nods: Best Independent Single/EP (or Fire and the Flood), Best Independent Artist and Best Independent Album.
#1 Dads, the side project of Big Scary frontman Tom Iansek,is also up for three awards,Best Independent Artist,Best Independent Album (for About Face)and Breakthrough Independent Artist of the Year.
The 2015 Carlton Dry Independent Music Awards take place on Thursday October 22 at Meat Market, North Melbourne. Performers will be announced shortly.
