Helpmann Awards 2019: Frontier Touring collect five nominations

Australian tours by Kylie Minogue, Paul Kelly, Celine Dion, David Byrne and The Killers are nominated for Helpmann Awards in 2019.

Frontier Touring were behind all five of these blockbusters, with more nominations than any other concert promoter.

“We’re privileged at Frontier to work with some of the best in the business and it is fantastic to see five of those tours nominated in the Helpmann Awards,” Michael Gudinski tells TMN.

“From all at Frontier, our sincere congratulations to Celine Dion, David Byrne, The Killers, Kylie, Paul Kelly and their respective teams for their well-deserved nominations.”

Other nominees across the annual event’s contemporary music categories include Tim Minchin by Live Nation Australia, WOMADelaide, Vivid Live 2018 and CMC Rocks by Chugg Entertainment and Rob Potts Entertainment Edge.

The Helpmann Awards relocate to Melbourne on July 14 and 15 at the Arts Centre Melbourne. Kate Miller-Heidke, Keir Nuttall and Paul Kelly are already confirmed to present.

“It has been a remarkable year for live performance in Australia and this year’s Nominees reflect the breadth and vibrancy of the sector,” said Victoria’s minister for creative industries.

“I congratulate all the 2019 Helpmann Awards Nominees and wish them the best of luck.”

Victorian Labor lured the Helpmanns from Sydney thanks to its Major Events Fund, boosted by $4.5 million in the 2018/19 budget.

Live Performance Australia CEO Evelyn Richardson is looking forward to next month’s debut in Melbourne.

“We are delighted to be presenting the 42 Helpmann Awards over two nights for the very first time in Melbourne,” said Richardson.

“Over the past eighteen years, the Helpmann Awards have had 12,000 entries and announced over 2,900 Nominees which highlight the artistry and excellence in Australia’s dynamic live performance industry which is enjoyed by over 18 million people each year.”
