Live Nation Australia & New Zealand has announced that Harry Styles’ 2020 tour of Australia won’t go ahead as scheduled.

The touring company passed on an update shared by Styles on his own socials, in which he postponed shows in South America, Mexico, Australia and New Zealand “until further notice”.

The tour was scheduled to include dates across Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Perth.

“Everyone’s health and safety remains our top priority, which is why I unfortunately have to postpone all 2020 shows,” Styles said.

“I really hope to play the shows as planned for 2021 but will continue to monitor the situation over the coming weeks and months.

“I can’t wait to see you all on the road as soon as it’s safe to do so.”

In recent days Live Nation had come under fire, as had the tour’s ticket seller Ticketek, for a generic response to many fans asking whether the dates would be going ahead as scheduled.

As it stands, stiff international border restrictions remain in place in Australia, while Victoria is only just taking the early steps to ease its strict lockdown.

On Monday (September 14), Ticketek said it was “seeking urgent clarification from the promoter [Live Nation]” about the status of the tour.

In sharing the message from the pop star on Wednesday, Live Nation revealed that rescheduled dates for Styles’ tour will be announced in due course, and encouraged fans to hold on to their tickets and use them for the new dates.

The touring company directed refund-seeking fans to head to their point of purchase.
