Guvera wins international Gold at Design100 awards
Australia’s Guvera has won Gold for the second time at the Design100 Global [app] Awards in the entertainment and leisure category.
The awards acknowledge global creativity, courage and innovation in mobile app design achievements by app creators and commissioners. They are rated by 150 design experts from around the world on merit, and not popularity.
Guvera’s Chief Technology Officer, Damien King, said the second win would open the door for the company to showcase its product to more elements of the mobile industry and hopefully achieve a greater market share.
It also confirmed the success of the Gold Coast-created platform’s work “at the intersection of tech innovation, music and brands”, of “providing music through a brand-funded model where both music labels and artists are properly rewarded.”
He said that since Guvera’s launch in 2008, “Our mission from the very beginning was to be the global leader in brand-funded music and entertainment” which would help associated brands grow.
Design100 founder, Mark Bergin, pointed out that Guvera’s second win illustrates its strengths in a dynamic music streaming landscape.
“Guvera clearly shows how being #DRIVENxDESIGN helps deliver their customer new experiences and services. Guvera keeps growing in sophistication, capability and user experience.”
Guvera claims that 16 million users signed up to its 30-million song catalogue in less than two years in 20 countries. It hopes to increase user figures to 21 million by the end of 2017. It also says it works with 40 brands currently.
Earlier this month, the Brisbane Courier Mail reported of the exchange of internal emails in 2015 between unidentified executives about these numbers. The concern was how many signed on and how many actually used the service.
Guvera’s response was that the company is planning to list on the stock market and that all updated details would be in its prospectus.
