Guvera expanding in the US

Australian-born music streaming company Guvera has expanded its presence in the United States, where it first launched in 2010.

On December 7 it held a West Coast Launch Party in Los Angeles at its flagship production House of Guvera.

In an audience including 50 global brands and Fortune 500 clients, it showcased its brand-funded streaming platform via a series of exhibits and interactive presentations. The night included a showcase by Jessie J and a live set from SWIMM.

Guvera CEO Darren Herft called the night “an absolute blast” and “an opportunity to highlight Guvera’s brand-funded streaming model, dedication to music lovers everywhere, and mission to bring fans, brands and musicians together in a way that transforms the way we experience music.”

According to Guvera, it streams to 14 million people (10 million of these subscribers) in 20 markets with 26 million tracks. These include 6.5 million in India and 1.5 million in Australia. In April 2015 it reported 10 million subscribers, and claims this rise in figures makes it the fastest growing streaming service in the world.

Guvera’s model is to be funded by brands, giving them a target audience that is keen to engage with branded content. It also cuts out disruptive ads for users.

“Guvera also continues to maintain a strong focus on providing locally relevant curation and content across its markets,” the company maintains.

The House of Guvera concept brings together writers, filmmakers, photographers, storytellers and event organisers to produce original content for its global brands and users. It includes production suites and music venues. Aside from the one in Los Angeles’ arts district, it plans to set similar studios/ venues in Mumbai and Melbourne.

As reported in TMN, last month it raised US$100 million to expand operations.
