Guitars In Bars returns to Adelaide Guitar Festival

The success of Guitars in Bars in 2017— 555 artists playing 150 events across South Australia – has seen Adelaide Guitar Festival is bringing it back in 2018 as a spin-off.

Guitar Festival artistic director Slava Grigoryan said the concept had been a huge success since its launch in 2016.

“There is no substitute for playing to a live audience, whether you’re starting out or you’re an established performer,” the gifted classical guitarist emphasised.

This year it runs July 13-29.

Guitars In Bars works on a simple premise: matching the best venue-friendly acts with the best act-friendly venues.

Venues can signal their interest to organisers.

Acts can check out available venues listed on its Venue Directory due to launch tomorrow (Wednesday March 28).

Application form available here.

Charles Sturt Council will pay the registration fees for the first 50 events within their area.

That’s any venue from Bowden and Hindmarsh all the way down to West Lakes and Henley Beach.

Adelaide Casino is hosting the inaugural Guitars In Bars Battle of the Bands where 12 acts (bands, duos and solos) can share in over $10,000 worth of cash and prizes.

First prize is $5,000 in cash and a monthly residency at Oasis Bar (valued at $5,000).

Second prize is a full day recording at Mix Masters studio (valued at $800) and a mix and master at Milk and Honey Audio (valued at $800).

To register for the Battle, head here.

Applications close on Friday May 25.

Applications are open for any artists hosting Guitars in Bars events.
