State restrictions force Groovin The Moo cut dates from 2022 season

Groovin The Moo is set to make its return in 2022, but will play half as many dates as usual.

For the festival’s first run since 2019, the regional touring festival will return to Maitland, Canberra and Bendigo next April. However, there are no current plans for the event to return to Townsville, Bunbury or Wayville due to current restrictions in those three states.

Organisers said the festival will return when it can confidently go ahead at “full quality”.

Promoter of Cattleyard, Steve Halpin, said that while the event won’t be coming to all six of its usual locations in 2022, the team are looking forward to the dates they will be able to play.

“It’s been a long time between Moo’s and we are so genuinely happy to be back on the road to some of our local regions to reconnect with artists, community, suppliers, team and most importantly, with each other!” he said.

“We have missed you all terribly and thank you for your patience.”

In its last run, GTM’s six shows around the country drew between 15,000 to 25,000 punters each. The University of Canberra estimated the Canberra show yielded $3 million in economic return.

Groovin The Moo isn’t the only touring festival that has had to amend their usual route in 2022, with Falls Festival recently announcing it will now play in Murroon as opposed to Lorne, while scrapping Marion Bay completely from its 2022/23 run.
