Matt Corby’s Rainbow Valley Records signs Perth psych-rockers Great Gable
Emerging WA indie outfit Great Gable has signed a new record deal with Rainbow Valley Records, the label imprint of Matt Corby and Alex Henriksson.
News of the signing arrives alongside the release of Great Gable’s latest single ‘Hazy’, with the band also plotting out a run of national tour dates kicking off in March 2022.
Formed in February, Rainbow Valley Records is a joint venture between Corby, Henriksson and Warner Music Australia, with the label serving as a genreless platform to support new releases from diverse local groups.
Great Gable’s signing to the imprint arrived after the group worked with Corby and Henriksson on last year’s debut album All My Friends, with the two collaborators making note of the band’s authenticity and unparalleled musicianship.
“To work with a real band in a world full of fake overproduced and sometimes exhausting music is a blessing. Great Gable is as real as they come,” Corby and Henriksson said.
“They know what it takes to be one of the best and are on a constant pursuit of this dream. There are no fancy tricks to get it to where it is, only solid musicianship, attention to detail and an honest connection to the musical spirit that guides us all.”
The group’s guitarist, Matt Preen, said that Corby and Henriksson’s passion for music proved to be pivotal in their decision to sign with the imprint.
“We are super excited to sign with Rainbow Valley Records,” he remarked.
“A label owned and run by artists is something that sits well with us. Matt and Al come from a musical background so they understand what we as artists want from our music.”
