Gold Coast artist Paces signs to The Weeknd, Nicki Minaj’s label in the US
Gold Coast producer Paces has signed to US label Republic Records with a deal announced by his Australian label etcetc.
The deal, inked for the world excluding Australia and New Zealand, will see Paces work with Republic and its imprint Casablanca Records, which is largely electronic focused.
Aden Mullens, Head of etcetc, said the deal will break Paces in “key global territories”:
“As a humble Australian indie label, it’s affirming to have the excitement and support of one of the biggest labels in the world,” Mullens said. “Paces, Falcona and etcetc are looking forward to working with Brett and the global Casablanca/Republic team breaking Paces in key global territories.”
The deal follows Paces’ signing of a worldwide publishing deal with Primary Wave and BMG out of New York.
It’s a worthy step forward for Paces, who went from uploading his own releases to triple j Unearthed in 2014, to taking out Breakthrough Artist of the Year at the 2016 inthemix Awards.
Brett Alperowitz, Senior Vice President, A&R, Republic Records, said:
“The Casablanca and Republic labels are very excited to welcome Paces to our artist roster. “Savage” is a fantastic tune that we feel can have success here in the US and around the world. The song was our point of discovery for this talented artist, but we look forward to more great music from Paces.”
