Gock and Wicks to be acknowledged at 2014 Screen Music Awards

This year’s Screen Music Awards will be acknowledging Australian composing duo Adam Gock and Dinesh Wicks with the International Achievement Award.

Gock and Dinesh (The DA’s Office) have composed music scores for countless popular television programs including The Apprentice, The Biggest Loser and Farmer Wants A Wife. They have also produced music for documentaries screened on both National Geographic and Discovery Channel.

2012 saw the DA’s Office branch out to the US, setting up in LA and then in NY a year later. Some of the team’s international credits include The Biggest Loser UK, The Face USA, Sesame Street, The Big Deal and National Geographic’s Megafactories and since their arrival in the US they have won a combined 7 ASCAP Awards.

Speaking on Gock and Dinesh’s success, APRA AMCOS CEO Brett Cottle today said, “It is a phenomenal effort by Adam and Dinesh over the last few years. Their work forms part of the world’s most popular television productions and they are providing opportunities for many Australian composers in the US market. It is highly appropriate we honour their achievements at this year’s Screen Music Awards.”

The Screen Music Awards will take place on Wednesday, November 12 at the City Recital Hall and is set to feature host Rob Carlton along with presenters and performers which include actor Jessica Tovey who most recently appeared in feature films Wonderland, Tracks and the Screen Music Awards nominated picture Adoration. Also presenting on the night will be Jon Stevens, Leeanna Waisman, Sophie Lowe and Jeremy Lindsay Taylor.

Entertainment will come courtesy of Clairy Browne & The Bangin’ Rackettes and Lance Ferguson from The Bamboos, while award-winning screen composer Ashley Irwin will again take on Musical Director duties and with his orchestra perform excerpts from the scores nominated for the Feature Film Score of the Year category.
