Merlin, the global rights agency for the independent label sector has lowered its fees.

Last year, Merlin announced a 50% decrease on its commercial deal administration fees and last night announced a further reduction of 16.67%.

The agency’s administration fees for commercial deals have been lowered from 3% to 2.5%, or 3.9% to 3.25% for Merlin members who are not members of local independent trade associations like AIR (Australian Independent Record Labels Association).

Merlin CEO Charles Caldas said in a statement: “We trust that this further underlines our commitment to continuing to deliver the maximum possible value to our members via our activities.”

Merlin has also stated that fees for obtaining settlements and recoveries from infringing services have remained unchanged due to the cost and nature involved.
