BalconyTV, The Orchard’s global online music channel featuring artists playing on balconies, has announced an exclusive partnership with Sydney-based microphone, audio software and accessories manufacturer RØDE Microphones.

Announced yesterday, RØDE is now the microphone sponsor for all 60+ BalconyTV production teams in over 30 different countries.

The now 10-year-old Dublin-founded BalconyTV features over 50 performances at over 60 different locations per week. Past performers include Mumford and Sons, Edward Sharpe, Ed Sheeran, Jessie J, Kaiser Chiefs, Australia’s The Beards and New Zealand’s Kimbra.

Jeff Clyburn, President of BalconyTV said in a statement: “Whether outdoors, indoors or in studio, each location presents unique challenges and RØDE Microphones deliver pristine sound regardless of the conditions.”

Scott Emerton, Global Marketing Manager of RØDE added: “RØDE prides itself on making high quality recording tools that are accessible to artists and engineers the world over regardless of their status or geography.

“[…] To now be the exclusive microphone supplier to BalconyTV is a perfect partnership in empowering musicians everywhere.”

New York-based music, video and film distribution company The Orchard purchased BalconyTV in 2014. The Orchard reports a turnover of US$200 million a year and is one of the world’s largest independent operations. In March last year Sony Music took out full ownership of The Orchard, paying $200 million to Orchard Assets Holdings.

Since The Orchard’s buy-out of BalconyTV, it has helped to develop some of the artists featured on the channel, increased engagement with videos, and increased distribution of BalconyTV footage via services such as Hulu. Since the acquisition BalconyTV has featured artists including Joss Stone, Fidlar, Tokio Hotel and PVRIS, among others.

BalconyTV videos are currently viewable through YouTube, Vevo, Daily Motion and Muzu, among others.
