Gang Of Youths ink global deal with Warner Bros. Records, remain with Sony Music in Aus & NZ

Australian chart-toppers Gang Of Youths have signed a worldwide deal with Warner Bros. Records.

TMN understands the new deal excludes Australia and New Zealand, where the band will remain with Sony Music Entertainment.

Until now, David Le’aupepe (lead vocals, guitar), Max Dunn (bass guitar), Jung Kim (keyboards, guitar), Joji Malani (lead guitar) and Donnie Borzestowski (drums), have been independent players in rest-of-world markets through their label Mosy.

GOY are currently supporting Mumford & Sons on their Delta Tour of Europe and visited Dutch radio station KINK during the Amsterdam leg, where they revealed fresh details of their new international label.

“We’ve never really had a label kind of outside of Australia,” said Le’aupepe. “We’ve been touring the UK and Europe relatively extensively, but I don’t really know. I think we just haven’t had the label thing until now.”

Gang Of Youths’ manager Kurt Bailey confirmed the signing news with TMN via text message while on route to their London base.

Most recently, GOY were the first band to record and release their MTV Unplugged performance, debuting at #5 on the ARIA Albums Chart.

Their Unplugged album followed the Gold-certified Go Farther In Lightness which debuted at #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart in August 2017 and was nominated for eight awards at the 2017 ARIA Music Awards, winning Album Of The Year, Best Group, Best Rock Album and Producer of the Year (with Adrian Breakspear).
