Four bands added to Legion, number of lost pledges revealed

Earlier this month founders of the fan-funded Legion Fest, including Devil You Know drummer John Sankey, announced the rescheduling of the festival to January 2017. Today, organisers announced the addition of four new acts to the bill and revealed to TMN less than five people chose to opt out of their pledge over havingthe contribution roll over to 2017.

Finnish heavy rockers Lordi, who were set to perform at Soundwave this year before the festival was cancelled, and local acts Capture the Crown,Polarisand rock super-group Heard of Cows? (Karnivool, Gyroscope) have joined the January 21-29 run next year.

The crowd-funded festival has raised over $345,300 of its $3.27 million goal. On the morning of January 18 pledgers were given until 5pm to decide whether they’d like to have their contribution roll over for the 2017 event, or opt out. Legion’s organisers told TMN only two or three pledgers chose the latter.

Of the 1,408 supporters contributing to the Pozible campaign, TMN understands two donations of $30,000 have been made from audio and production services company JPJ Audio, and merchandise, design and touring company Love Police.

While there are only 49 days left of the campaign, should it reach its goal it will be the first crowd-funded festival of its nature in the world.
