Flume dominates 2016 ARIA Award nominations
Four-time ARIA award winning producer Flume has scored 11 nominations for the 2016 ARIA Awards.
The nominations, which were announced today, also saw pop wunderkind Troye Sivan sweep seven nominations, while rapper and producer Illy scored six nominations for his breakthrough 2016 hit, Papercuts.
Sia and The Avalanches also picked up six nominations this year, including the Telstra Album Of The Year award.
“2016 has been a record breaking year for Australian music with 16 Australian artists reaching the top of the ARIA Charts and the likes of Flume, Sia and Troye Sivan featuring strongly on charts and festival stages around the world. This success is celebrated today with the winners of the Fine Arts, Artisan & Best Comedy Awards and the announcement of the nominated artists for the 2016 ARIA Awards Connected By Telstra,” said Dan Rosen, CEO of ARIA.

This year’s ARIAs will see two new awards introduced into the category, including Apple Music Song of the Year, and the Best International Artist category. For the first time this year, the recipients of both awards will be determined online through fan vote, with the Best International Artist category solely determined on Twitter.
The 2016 ARIA Awards, presented by Telstra, will take place at The Star Sydney on Wednesday November 23. Flume will be the headliner performer at this year’s awards, while Crowded House has been confirmed to receive an induction into the ARIA Hall of Fame.
