Florence & The Machine announce Splendour sideshows

PRESS RELEASE:

There has been a fever pitch of anticipation since Florence & The Machine’s camp began announcing shows for their return to the live stage in 2015. With a handful of festival appearances confirmed around the globe, including Coachella and Lollapalooza, it was a dead cert that news of an Australian return was imminent.

With the confirmation of top billing at Splendour In The Grass announced in April, Florence & The Machine’s Australian fan base have been patiently awaiting word of the illuminating live act to grace the stage in capital cities for headline shows.

Laneway Presents can now confirm that the dates are set, and Florence & The Machine will perform at Melbourne’s Palais Theatre on Wednesday 22nd July and the State Theatre in Sydney on Thursday 23rd July. This will be the indie ensemble’s long awaited return to Australia since their national tour in May 2012, selling out tens of thousands of tickets in arenas across the country, as well as appearing at the Sydney Opera House’s Vivid Festival.

With these shows set to be the only headline appearances on this trip to our shores, in two of the most idyllic and intimate venues in the country for an act of this calibre – demand will be high. As such, a ballot system for tickets has been established to enable all fans potential access to tickets.

All ballot entries must be received before 12 noon (AEST) on Thursday 28 May 2015. Successful applicants will then be notified by email after the ballot closes and given the opportunity to purchase tickets between 2pm (AEST) on Friday 29 May 2015 and 2pm (AEST) on Saturday 30 May 2015 via an exclusive link and with a unique purchase code.

This thrilling news comes the week of Florence & The Machine’s long awaited third studio offering, How Big How Blue How Beautiful (out this Friday 29th May on Island Records); a collection of songs, written and recorded over the course of 2014. Produced by Markus Dravs (Björk, Arcade Fire, Coldplay) with contributions from Paul Epworth, Kid Harpoon and John Hill, the third album by Florence & The Machine is live-sounding, tune-rich, unhinged in all the right places and powerful in all the best ways. In voice and, ultimately, outlook Florence has never sounded better.

The debut single, What Kind Of Man, was released with huge acclaim; a full-force anthem of uplifting defiance with an equally transfixing video that is more a short film, featuring dialogue about the unifying power of tragedy in a relationship (watch HERE). On theme with the first single, and part of a suite of narrative driven videos for the album, the follow up, Ship To Wreck, was released alongside a dynamic clip filmed in Florence’s London home (watch HERE).

To see Florence & The Machine in these rooms, is to see an enigmatic and flourishing act in a show unlike any other.
