The network bosses talk Survey 1 in Sydney

With the results from Survey 1 to be released tomorrow morning, The Australian have spoken to all three FM network programming bosses, with their main focus on Sydney.

Craig Bruce (SCA) says: “We’ll (2Day) go down on Tuesday. The results are going to be about the detail though. Our battle is absolutely with Nova, it’s not with KIIS.”

Duncan Campbell (ARN) says: “Tuesday is about getting a read on the markets around Australia and in particular how audiences have moved in both Sydney and Melbourne given the amount of change that has occurred.”

Paul Jackson (Nova) says the mass of changes “will bring a fair amount of confusion for the listener in the early days. There’s a good chance as well as through smooth improving that the Mix change will absolutely bring some churn.”

Slow progress on reform discussions

Communications Minister Malcolm Turnbull has met with media executives in Sydney to discuss reform in the sector.

The meeting, dubbed an “Advisory Council on Communications”, discussed the ’reach’ rule, which precludes a metropolitan television network from merging with their regional affiliate.

It also discussed the ’2 of 3’ rule which precludes an entity operating more than two newspapers, television licenses, or radio licenses in the one market.

There were no decisions taken at the meeting, and no timelines discussed.

triple j unearth new website

triple j’s Unearthed website has had a makeover.

The new site offers better audio quality (now 192kbps), new individual user profile pages, embeddable tracks, gig listings, video content, tagging, and better stats for artists. This means users of the site can discover music, follow artists, share and recommend with the unearthed community and across the web.

For artists, the improvements mean they can be heard on the site, on mobile, on social networks, on the radio or at gigs and they can now more effectively track how people are listening to their music.
