Facebook are launching an ‘unsend’ feature to recall those misguided messages

“HI BABE, u up, IVE been thinkjin we shud try again i kno i was all me but i am better now i swear!!”

If you have ever sent this message at 3am, six gins in, then you’ll know the horror of realising almost instantly that this is a very bad move indeed.

While up until now you’ve had to clench your stomach and wait for the little ‘read’ signal to come up, while you reassess your drinking and dating patterns, the most trusted man on the internet, Mark Zuckerberg, is about to implement a ‘delete’ or ‘unsend’ feature in Messenger.

Speaking to Tech Crunch, a Facebook spokesperson confirmed the feature is coming soon – albeit as an excuse as to why Zuckerberg’s own messages have miraculously disappeared from conversations in the past few days.

“We have discussed this feature several times. And people using our secret message feature in the encrypted version of Messenger have the ability to set a timer — and have their messages automatically deleted.

“We will now be making a broader delete message feature available. This may take some time. And until this feature is ready, we will no longer be deleting any executives’ messages.

“We should have done this sooner — and we’re sorry that we did not.”
