Face The Music drops second speaker lineup
Bluesfest Director Peter Noble, ARIA CEO Dan Rosen and Rolling Stone Australia Publisher Matt Coyte are among the industry speakers confirmed in the second announcement for Face The Music.
The eighth edition of the two-day conference will see 150 speakers converge at the Arts Centre, Melbourne on November 13 and 14. Also revealed this morning to join the 28 announced speakers is Monique Rothstein,founder of Sydney-based PR and artist management agency Positive Feedback, Caroline Australia’s Tim Janes, producer M-Phazes and Sydney-based WME agent Lauren Murray.
Peter Chellew, Face The Music'sDirector and General Manager of The Push (who presents the annual event) told TMN this year’s conference will see fascinating and controversial topics discussed.
“Music industry people are very generous in giving their time to help others, and more than 600 have spoken over the years at Face The Music,” said Chellew. “For 2015, our programmer Paris Martine is putting together some fascinating topics, then we seek out the speakers who can make the discussion come alive. Last year, Steve Albini came straight off the plane to deliver a ground breaking view of the future of music which has resonated around world.
“Amongst 150 speakers this year, we have controversial ideas coming from Le Tigre’s JD Samson and Un-convention founder Ruth Daniel looking at touring models, gender issues, creating social change and developing sustainable careers.”
Face The Music takes place during Melbourne Music Week, when the The Age Music Victoria Awardscelebrates its 10th anniversary and during four-day conference AWME(Australasian Worldwide Music Expo). Chellew told TMN Face The Music is reflective of the progressive city in which it takes place.
“Face The Music has developed as a boutique music summit with a grassroots, no-bullshit style like its home-town Melbourne – full of amazing music, sharp and creative, dressed in black and getting the business done.”
