Face The Music announces Steve Albini as first keynote speaker

Face the Music has announced Steve Albini as its first international keynote speaker for this year’s conference.

A renowned artist, music journalist, industry commentator and recording engineer, Steve Albini is known as a champion of independent business models for musicians to flourish and release their work out of the corporate music industry structure. His views on crowdfunding and piracy also make him a prime source of reference for music media outlets.

Other notches on Albini’s belt include his engineering work for acts such as Nirvana, the Pixies and PJ Harvey and five recorded studio albums. He joins other speakers like Dave Batty (Custom Made/Artist Voice), Harley Evans (Moshtix), Kirsty Rivers (APRA AMCOS) and Caleb Williams (Unified) at Face The Music, which is presented in Partnership with Melbourne Music week.

Face The Music is also set to induct the four original members of Daddy Cool and leading music journalist Ed Nimmervoll into the Music Victoria Hall of Fame.

Face The Music is to be held at the Arts Centre Melbourne on November 14 and 15.
