Exclusive: Paces signs one of the largest publishing deals for an Aus artist in 2016

Gold Coast producer Paces is capping off a banner year with what’s rumoured to be one of the largest publishing deals for an Australian artist this year.

TMN can exclusively reveal that Paces, aka Mikey Perry, has recently signed a comprehensive co-publishing deal with Primary Wave Music Publishingand BMG out of New York.

The deal sees Perry join a legendary roster of catalogues on Primary Wave including Kurt Cobain, Steven Tyler and John Lennon, as well as writers such as Cee Lo Green, Sigma and Foy Vance.

The deal follows Perry’s re-signing with local label etcetc (home to PNAU, Set Mo, Kilter, Luke Million), which was key to the success of his debut record Vacation this year.

Vacation received radio support for his single with Jess Kent, 1993 (No Chill), while triple j tapped him for Like A Version where he performed BMG Aus signing LDRU’s Keeping Score with Guy Sebastian.

This week has been an extended career highlight for Perry; he picked up the inthemix Award for Breakthrough Artist Of The Year just last night and is readying new single Savage for release next month.

Perry is expected to relocate to the US for a short period of time to work on his sophomore record.

“I’m super excited about this deal,” Perry told TMN. “I’m really looking forward to spending some time in the states writing with different people and seeing what we can come up with. Good times!”
