EXCLUSIVE: FBi Radio, Century Venues among recipients for All-Ages Grant Program
MusicNSW and the City of Sydney have chosen the recipients for the latest All Ages Access Grant Program, which funds all-ages events in inner Sydney.
TIO can exclusively reveal the successful grant applicants are Newcastle’s Bad Vibrations Records, touring and merch company Hardline Media, FBi Radio and venue managers Century Venues (Enmore, The Metro). Each applicant will present all-ages shows in Inner Sydney.
Bad Vibrations Records is presenting an all-ages show at 107 Projects
Hardline Media is presenting an all-ages show at The Lair
FBi Radio is presenting an all-ages show at Oxford Art Factory
Century Venues is presenting two all-ages shows at The Lair.
All Ages Access Grants provide funding or up to $15,000 per application to cover artist fees, production and promotion costs for events in inner Sydney between 23 October 2017 and 2 March 2018.
FBi Radio’s Managing Director Clare Holland said:
“Growing young audiences for live music is core to what we do at FBi. We firmly believe young people should have access to live music in this city and with the support of MusicNSW and City of Sydney through this grant we’ll be able to produce a top-quality event ensuring we continue to inspire the next generation of music lovers”.
This second round of AAA successful grant recipients follows two funded shows at Oxford Art Factory for the first round. The shows featured emerging acts Skegss, Winston Surfshirt, Bec Sandridge, The Vanns and Ninajirachi.
The All Ages Access Grants are a direct recommendation of the City of Sydney’s Live Music Action Plan. With funding provided by the City of Sydney and managed by MusicNSW, the grant program aims to encourage venues, promoters, booking agents, musicians and artist managers to present more all-ages shows in Inner Sydney.
The applications covered 18 shows and requested over $140,000 in funding.
Lord Mayor Clover Moore said:
“The City of Sydney has made a strong commitment to live music in Sydney, and we’re really proud to have partnered with MusicNSW on the All Ages Access Grant pilot program. It’s clearly been a success and it’s wonderful to see some of Sydney’s most dynamic and vital venues, promoters and organisations step up to support access to live music for young people.
“It is crucial that we build a strong gig-going culture in the city’s young people. Venues like 107 Projects, The Lair and Oxford Art Factory, promoters such as Bad Vibrations and Hardline Media and organisations like FBi Radio are integral to this work. I’d love to see this project continue on a wider scale by providing support across Sydney and NSW.”
Event details for the five shows, along with lineups, will be announced in the coming weeks.
