Exclusive: Cooking Vinyl Australia adds team member

Cooking Vinyl Australia (CVA) has taken a necessary step to service its bourgeoning roster, adding Janine Morcos in the newly created role of Head Of Publicity.

Morcos joins the team from her previous publicity role at Soundwave Touring, where she managed the company’s in-house independent label 3Wise Records. Previously, she was Media Manager Victoria for 17-months at Warner Music Australia and before that, worked her way up the ranks at Roadrunner Records Australia before leaving her role as Senior Promotions Manager in 2012.

Commencing in the role today, Morcos will oversee all media related activity at CVA. CVA is headed by label veterans Leigh Gruppetta and Stu Harvey, who launched the European label’s Australian office in September 2013.

“Janine is a highly respected figure in both the local and international music community, to have her on board is a big step forward for the company,” said Gruppetta. “Janine’s experience and strategic approach to release campaigns is a huge plus for our artists and labels, we’re thrilled to welcome her into the fold.”

Morcos is the second new staff member to commence this year with the recent appointment of Andrew Hajgato who joined CVA in January as Label Manager after seven years with Universal Music Australia.

This year also saw the label launch its heavy music imprint Double Cross Records. Launched in February, the label houses Gallows, Cancer Bats, Red City Radio and High Tension.

Cooking Vinyl Australia represents respected labels such as Cooking Vinyl UK, Dine Alone, Razor & Tie, SideOneDummy, Resist and Thirty Tigers. It works closely with its distributor Caroline to service its artist roster, which includes Kate Miller‐Heidke, Shakey Graves, You Me At Six, The Smashing Pumpkins, Lindi Ortega, Frank Iero and Modern Baseball.
