EXCLUSIVE: BMG Australia & NZ announces staff reshuffle

No longer in its infancy and now a major publishing competitor on a global scale, BMG Australia and New Zealand has restructured its sync team to better accommodate its growing roster.

TIO can exclusively announce the elevation of Allegra Caldwell and Cameron Elliott and the hire of former Universal Publishing Production Music AU/NZ staffer Kaitlyn Pearce.

Caldwell and Elliott are now the Co-Heads of Sync, moving up from Senior Creative Manager and Senior Clearance Manager, respectively.

Focusing on Creative and Marketing in her new role, Caldwell’s main responsibilities are to manage Commercial, Film & TV requests in Australia and New Zealand, as well as generating new business. Prior to joining BMG last August, Caldwell was the Film, TV & Licensing Manager at Kobalt Music Group Australia & New Zealand.

Focusing on Clearance & International, Elliott manages commercial requests with new clientele, and international requests for the local catalogue. The current roster includes AC/DC, SAFIA, Drapht, JET, Wolfmother, Meg Mac and Matt Corby, among many others.

Prior to joining BMG in January, Elliott spent five years at Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG) working with Wolfmother, JET, The Living End, Wave Racer and Peking Duk – all of which had previously moved over to BMG over the course of the last 12 months.

As BMG’s new local Sync Coordinator, Kaitlyn Pearce is responsible for creating opportunities, managing enquiries, clearances and issuing licences in Australia & New Zealand. Pearce reports to Caldwell and Elliott.

Pearce joins BMG after five years at Universal Publishing Production Music Australia & New Zealand, where she was most recently Client Services & Digital Content Manager.

Heath Johns, BMG Australia and New Zealand Managing Director, said:

“Allegra and Cameron represent all that is great about BMG and I am pleased to announce their new titles and functions, I am also very excited to welcome Kaitlyn to the team.

“As a company BMG is young, ambitious and highly motivated to deliver class leading creative and administrative service to our world-class roster and I have no doubt that we have the right personnel to deliver on these objectives for our publishing and recordings clients.”

Johns launched the company in Australia in March 2016 and has been using BMG’s 21st century approach to music rights to grow the company since. While it looks after the rights to Wave Racer, Tame Impala (ex-ANZ), Montaigne, and LDRU, among others, BMG made its most significant acquisition last July.

Just three months into existence, the company acquired legendary, 131-year-old publisher J Albert & Son Pty Ltd, taking in the rights of music icons like Easybeats, AC/DC, John Paul Young and Rose Tattoo, and contemporary artists Josh Pyke, Urthboy, the Cat Empire and San Cisco, among others.

As the world’s fourth biggest music publisher, BMG currently represents more than 2 million songs and recordings worldwide.
