Ex-Amity Affliction member Troy Brady teases new label venture

Ex-Amity Affliction member Troy Brady has set up his ownrecord label, Elevnth Records.

Announced on Friday afternoon via ateaser video posted to YouTube, the 55-second clip doesn't give much away. However Brady spoke exclusively to TMN this month – his first public comment since leaving The Amity Affliction last October.

Brady said Elevnth Records was designed to act as an artists’ label. Signed acts retain full ownership of their music and have the freedom to curate their own release campaigns with Brady pairing them with industry figures who align with each acts’ campaign.

“For me, realising it’s not that complicated a process was really exciting. To just put the pieces together and make all that work at the end…to give artists good recordings and realistic situations and to be able to facilitate them however they need.”

Brady will offer his experience as an engineer and producer to his signings. The bands on Elevnth Records have the option to be recorded in his own Evergreen Studios on Bribie Island, which he has privately operated for three years. In the last 18 months at both Evergreen Studios and Heliport Studios in Buderim, Brady has hosted acts including In Hearts Wake, Antagonist A.D, Red Beard, Hand Of Mercy and The Amity Affliction for their most recent ARIA #1 album Let The Ocean Take Me.

Helping Brady and his team with his endeavor is partner Michael McKiernan, who handles PR, A&R and all media.

Brady has the licensing for Elevnth Records but has teamed up with Melbourne-based independent Shock Records for distribution.

Melbourne-based graphic artist Pat Fox from Apollo Collective is handling art direction. Fox’s previous works include LP covers for Amity Affliction, Getaway Plan, Vance Joy, Northlane, branding for Soundwave and Harvest festivals and tour posters for Refused and The Wonder Years.

The label comes six months after departing post-hardcore band The Amity Affliction, which he co-founded with clean singer Ahren Stringer in 2002.

“The last six months have been very reflective […] For me this is a decision that if I had kept on my path, I may not have made. For me, this is a really good and healthy evolution.”

Brady will be drip-feeding more information about the label, including its roster this week via the Elevnth Records YouTube page.
