Eurogliders, Graham Wood to be inducted into the WA Hall of Fame

The Eurogliders and the late Graham Wood will be inducted into the WA Hall of Fame as part of the WAMAwards in Perth on November 2.

The Eurogliders were formed in Perth in 1981 around singer Grace Knight and guitarist Bernie Lynch.

Signed to Sony Music, they went on to have global success with hits as ‘Heaven’, ‘We Will Together’ and ‘Absolutely’. They went Top 5 in the US charts and on MTV’s New Year’s Eve party in New York, broadcast to over 65 million people.

After their split, Knight forged a career in jazz and acting while Lynch continued to write music for theatre and forged, with Collette Dinnigan, a fashion empire.

A reformation has led to new albums including last year’s Don’t Eat The Daisies.

In between recording four albums, jazz performer and academic Graham Wood also left his mark co-founding the Ellington Jazz Club in 2009 and set up the Perth International Jazz Festival.

In 2013 he was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive cancer, and due to liver damage caused by surgery, he passed in July this year at the age of 46.

WAM also announced this morning that Tired Lion have pulled out of the WAMAwards.

Additions to the ceremony are San Cisco, Rag N’ Bone, The Bambuseae Rhythm Section and Timothy Nelson doing a DJ set.

They join the previously-announced Stella Donnelly, John Bennett & David Hyams, Harry Mitchell & Daniel Susnjar, and Nerve Quakes.

Long time radio identity Russell Woolf and TV presenter Dominique Pratt will co-host.

The awards are held at the new Gate One Theatre at Claremont Showgrounds where 38 winners will be revealed.
