Eminem Claims 11th ARIA #1 Album with ‘The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce)’

Eminem has claimed his 11th ARIA #1 album with The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce), released on July 12th.

Eminem is now tied with U2 in fifth place on the list of artists with the most #1 albums. Madonna is fourth with 12, Taylor Swift is third with 23, the Beatles are second with 14 and Jimmy Barnes is on top with 15.

The album debuted at the top of the ARIA Albums Chart, continuing Eminem’s streak of chart-topping releases in Australia, reaching back to The Marshall Mathers LP in 2000, and his 10th to debut at #1. All up, he has spent 31 weeks at #1; his biggest album so far was Recovery, which was on top for nine weeks in 2010.

The album’s lead single, “Houdini”, has also made a significant impact, debuting at #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart. This achievement brings Eminem’s cumulative weeks at the top of the ARIA Singles Chart to 29. In addition, 13 tracks from the album have landed in the top 50 ARIA Singles Chart.

Eminem’s discography includes 51 singles that have been accredited Platinum or greater, and his albums have achieved over 66x Platinum in Australia. His previous album, Music to Be Murdered By (2020), also topped the Billboard and ARIA charts.

The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce) is a conceptual album, and Eminem has encouraged fans to listen to it in order. The album features collaborations with a mix of emerging and established artists, including Jelly Roll, J.I.D, Big Sean, BabyTron, 2 Chainz, Skylar Grey, Sly Pyper, and White Gold. The track “Antichrist” features Bizarre, paying homage to Eminem’s D-12 era. Filipino rapper Ez Mil is featured on “Head Honcho”.

“Houdini”, produced by Eminem, is trending in the top 5 across radio airplay charts. The track includes a sample and interpolation of Steve Miller Band’s 1982 hit, “Abracadabra”.
