Aussie singer Elliot signs with Republic Records
Aussie singer-songwriter Elliot has been picked up by Republic Records in the US.
The 23-year-old artist released her latest single, ‘Home’, through Island Records earlier this week. The track is accompanied by a music video, directed by Tim Nathan.
The clip features Elliot’s family, who are filmed listening to the emotional alt-pop track for the first time. Though it was written prior to border restrictions coming into effect, Elliot sings about the desire to return to her hometown of Cobram.
“There’s a moment when my mother breaks down into tears, listening to me sing about my relationship with my father and siblings, and how very much my mum keeps it all together,” the singer said.
“I think there are so many people at the moment who are away from their home, and haven’t seen their family in months.
“I think it’ll really connect with people because of that, but I also hope it makes people take a step back and reflect on the special times they’ve had with their families and really appreciate it.”
‘Home’ follows on from Elliot’s single, ‘Circles’, released earlier this year.
In addition to Republic, Elliot has also signed with Polydor in France.
The artist’s signing with Republic and Polydor follows similarly to Vera Blue’s deal with the major label company in August.
