Ed St John steps back into the biz with Music Australia

Former Warner Music Australia President and CEO Ed St John has joined the board of Music Australia.

St John cut his teeth as a music journalist with Rolling Stone then set about building a stacked CV in the Australian record biz, including executive gigs at Columbia Records, BMG and at Warner Music, where he served in the top job from 2005-2010.

He also served on the boards of the PPCA and ARIA, as Chairman of the ARIA Awards and Hall of Fame and, briefly, as ARIA chair.

“Having overseen the Australian music industry’s greatest highs and deepest lows, Ed brings a unique perspective to the Music Australia Board as positive signs of renewal emerge,” said Music Australia CEO Chris Bowen in a statement announcing St John’s arrival.

In the years since his exit at Warner Music, Ed St John has served on the board of directors for Australian digital content distributor Valleyarm, worked in consulting roles including casting judges for The Voice and X Factor and in 2015 became as Executive General Manager at not-for-profit The Ethics Centre in Sydney.

Music Australia is a national advocate for the music industry. Its activities span music education, industry and community sectors to deliver campaigns, information, resources, engagement, and participation and demonstration projects.
