Ebony Boadu is taking over as the host of triple j’s House Party

triple j have today announced the new host of their beloved House Party program, with Ebony Boadu taking over the role.

Back in November, triple j broke the news that after five years as Saturday night House Party host, KLP was moving on to bigger and better things.

Of course, while fans of KLP’s weekly bangers were undoubtedly heartbroken, sadness soon turned into curiosity, as legions of triple j fans wondered who would be taking over the role of House Party host.

Now, we have our answer.

Announced today, triple j have revealed that 23-year-old hip hop and dance aficionado Ebony Boadu is set to be the new host of the iconic program.

Growing up in Western Sydney, Ebony revealed that her parents’ Afrobeat and reggae collections (as well an addiction to Guitar Hero) helped to shape her musical taste. Likewise, after years spent listening to Nina Las Vegas host House Party back in the day, a strong connection to electronic music soon formed.

Applying for FBi’s Dance Class (a mentorship program where young women learn to DJ and present radio) in 2016, Ebony soon found herself with hosting spots on FBi Radio, SBS and MTV. Before long, she became a fixture on the Aussie music scene, bumping jams at iconic events such as Splendour In The Grass, This That, Spilt Milk, and Falls Festival.

“When one of my mixes got played on triple j last year, it was a really big accomplishment for me,” Ebony Boadu explained. “To now be hosting a weekly show where I can share music with people all over the country is super surreal.”

“When I DJ, I aim to play sets that are as creative and as fun as possible, and there’s no better place to do that than on triple j’s House Party.”

Ebony is set to host her first House Party this weekend, from 6-9pm on Saturday, January 12th. From there, you’ll quickly get used to her voice and tunes as they help to soundtrack your Saturday nights from here on in.
