Donald Glover has sued his former label over Childish Gambino royalties

Donald Glover has filed a lawsuit against his former label over streaming royalties from his Childish Gambino project. The lawsuit is part of an ongoing royalties dispute between Glover and his former label Glassnote Records.

Pitchfork reports that Glover claims the label owes him over $10,000 in streaming royalties. The suit alleges breaches of contract, good faith, fair dealing, and fiduciary duty, as well as negligence. In July it was reported that the artist was being sued by Glassnote, but this turned out to be false.

The lawsuit comes after Glassnote requested a judge mediate their contract dispute, telling Pitchfork “Donald Glover made a claim that he was owed 95% of SoundExchange royalties when we are legislatively and contractually required to share those royalties 50/45,”.

Glover who creates music as Childish Gambino, claims that Glassnote has kept 100% of his sound exchange royalties. The artist is seeking dismissal of the complaint, his owed royalties, and more in damages.
