Playboi Carti, Doechii Reign Over ARIA Charts

It’s a US rap double act on the ARIA Charts as Doechii and Playboi Carti earn their first No. 1s.
Carti can afford to celebrate this weekend. The American artist opens at the top of the ARIA Albums Chart with Music, his first leader. That easily beats the No. 49 best for his 2018 release Die Lit, and the No. 15 peak for 2020’s Whole Lotta Red.
The 30-track LP includes appearances by Kendrick Lamar, Travis Scott, The Weeknd, Future, Young Thug, and Jhene Aiko, and spins-off several track into the singles chart, led by “Evil J0rdan” at No. 7, the week’s top debut.
Australian singer-songwriter Mia Wray enters at No. 26 with her first album, hi, it’s nice to meet me, the only Australian LP in the ARIA Top 50, published Friday, March 21st.
Meanwhile, Doechii completes a marathon as “Anxiety” hits No. 1 on the ARIA Singles Chart, with a little help from Gotye.
“Anxiety” has had multiple lives since Doechii originally released it on YouTube in 2019. More than five years later, the track enjoyed a viral surge on TikTok, and Doechii wisely cashed-in by releasing it widely to streaming services. The single flies 9-1 on the ARIA Chart. Also, Sleepy Hallow’s 2023 version of “A N X I E T Y” featuring Doechii is currently at No. 41 on the national tally, having reached No. 14 last month.
“Anxiety” samples Gotye and Kimbra’s global hit from 2011, “Somebody That I Used to Know”, a multiple Grammy Award winner that logged eight weeks atop the national chart.
She’s no one-hit wonder. Doechii’s “Denial Is A River” peaked at No. 13 earlier this year and currently sits at No. 23.
Alex Warren is on the rise. The California singer-songwriter now has his first top 10 hit in Australia, as “Ordinary” moves 14-4 on the ARIA Singles Chart. Warren’s previous best was a No. 30 peak for “Carry You Home”. On the latest tally, “Carry You Home” improves to No. 28 for a new peak position.
Chappell Roan’s massive 12 months keeps on giving, as the US star bags her fourth ARIA Top 50 appearance with “The Giver”. The country cut is new at No. 14. Roan’s “Good Luck, Babe!” (No. 4) and “Hot to Go (No. 19) hit their peaks in 2024, and “Pink Pony Club” glides to a new best this week of No. 5.
Just one Australian-made single impacts the ARIA Top 50, Vance Joy’s evergreen “Riptide” from 2013. The 16-times platinum certified hit improves 50-48.
