Sony Music Australia’s hitmakers DNA Songs (Anthony Egizii and David Musumeci) are nominated for the BestMusicfor an Advertisement Screen Music Award.

The Screen Music Awards celebrates composing achievements across feature film, television, documentary, short film and advertising from the last year.

Egizii and Musumeci’s composition for the Rio 2016 Olympics advertisement, with Sarah Aaron and Graham Donald, marks their first Screen Music Awards nod. It is nominated alongside Rafael May’s Cadbury Marvellous Creations, Jeremy Yang’s 2016 AICP Opening and Robert Upward’s composition for Country Racing Victoria: It’s Got it All.

Both former Avalanches member Darren Seltmannand his wife Sally are also first-time nominees. The couple’s collaborative composition, Dancing in the Darknessfrom ABC comedy The Letdown is up for Best Original Song Composed for theScreen.

Among the nominated pieces is one of last year’s most talked about TV events, the two-part telemovie Peter Allen: Not the Boy Next Door. The screening took home six AACTA Awards last year along with two nominations and two early wins in the 58th TV Week Logie Awards.

The Feature Film Score of the Year category sees Screen Music Award winner and former rock keyboard player David Hirschfelder nominated for his work on The Dressmaker. He’s up against Cezary Skubiszewski for Oddball, Timothy Cheel and Christopher Larkin for Crew Cut and Antony Partos and Matteo Zingales for 99 Homes.

Among the multiple nominees are established composers Antony Partos, Michael Yezerski, David Hirschfelder, Caitlin Yeo, David Bridie, Christopher Larkin, Neil Sutherland, Ricky Edwards, Matteo Zingales, Adam GockandDinesh Wicks.

The list was announced this morning in Sydney. The Screen Music Awards are held at City Recital Hall, Sydney on Tuesday, November 8. They are organised by APRA AMCOS and the Australian Guild of Screen Composers (AGSC).

Emmy Award-winningscreencomposerAshley Irwin will again lead a live orchestra that will perform a selection of nominated compositions. The Chaser’sChris TaylorandAndrew Hansenwill host the ceremony.
