DMA’s ‘The Glow’ debuts top 5 in U.K., No.1 in Scotland
DMA’s did it. Their third studio set ‘The Glow’ lights up the U.K. albums chart, opening at No. 4, and it nearly blasts to the top spot in Australia.
The top 5 effort is easily the rock trio’s strongest U.K. chart debut, eclipsing the No. 36 best for Hills End and the No. 13 peak for 2018’s For Now.
On the Official U.K. Chart, DMA’s were beaten only by a pair of posthumous releases by U.S. rappers (Juice WRLD’s Legends Never Die at No. 1 and Pop Smoke’s Shoot For the Stars Aim For the Moon at No. 3), and a returning production wizz (Streets’ None of Us are Getting out of This Alive at No. 2)
The Glow also manages a No. 1 on the Official Scottish Albums Chart which, like the U.K. survey, is compiled by the Official Charts Company based on streams and sales of digital bundles, CDs, vinyl and other formats, across a week-long period.
In the U.K., The Glow is released through Korda Marshall’s Infectious Music, a music company with a long affiliation with Michael Gudinski’s Mushroom Group, parent of I OH YOU.
On the current ARIA Albums Chart, Lime Cordiale take top honors with 14 Steps To A Better You opening at No. 1, ahead of The Glow, for an all-Australian top 2.
It’s a new chart peak for the Sydney outfit, beating the No. 7 best of For Now and the No. 8 for its predecessor.
The Glow does score one major victory. The set rules this week’s ARIA Vinyl Albums Chart.
“Thanks to everyone for all your support,” the band write in a social media post. “We are honestly so humbled by the response – from a small recording side project based out of an apartment in Sydney to a top 5 album – we feel very privileged to call you our fans.”
DMA’s will unleash the new album on Australian audiences with six ‘Unplugged & Intimate’ dates across three nights at Sydney’s Factory Theatre in July/August 2020, all of which are sold out.
Promoters Frontier Touring, I OH YOU and Secret Sounds added four COVIDSafe concerts at The Tivoli in Brisbane on Saturday, 29th August and Sunday, 30th August.
