DMA’S could snag a UK Top 10 with For Now
A little swagger, friends in high places and a serving of “biblical” songs can get you just about anywhere. For DMA’S, it could get them a U.K. top 10.
The Sydney three-piece is eyeing a first U.K. top 10 with their second album, For Now, which dropped last Friday (April 27) and impacted the midweek chart with a No. 7 debut. For Now is tracking well ahead of DMA’S first album release, 2016’s Hill’s End, which just scraped into the Official U.K. Albums Chart top 40 at No. 36.

The band, pigeonholed by some music writers as “Britpop revivalists,” are signed to I Oh You in Australia and released through Mushroom Group partner Infectious Music in the U.K., where they’re currently supporting the release with a national tour. Those For Now tour dates roll into continental Europe next week, followed by homecoming shows and a return to the U.K. for a handful of open-air summer concerts.
One Brit who hasn’t pigeonholed the Oasis-inspired Aussie trio is Liam Gallagher, who gave For Now a ringing endorsement from his Twitter page by calling it “biblical.”
That’s a real high-five from a rocker who accruing eight No. 1s with Oasis and whose first solo effort, As You Were, debuted at No. 1 last year. Liam just loves chin-out music.

Meanwhile, just two places behind DMA’S on the Official Chart Update is another Aussie act with strong roots to the Mushroom Group, Kylie Minogue, and her former chart leader Golden (via BMG).
All will be revealed when the Official U.K. Albums Chart is published this Friday.
