Delta Goodrem to host Christmas special on Nine

Delta Goodrem will host and perform for a special Nine Christmas broadcast, filmed from the Sydney Opera House.

Christmas with Delta will see the pop star sing tracks from hew newly-released Only Santa Knows, which arrived in November. The album was released as a surprise and includes two original tracks alongside a range of Christmas classics.

“I was sharing stories during lockdown about how much I love Christmas, and that inspired the writing of ‘Only Santa Knows’. From there, I went on to produce and record the album,” the singer said at the time.

The event will feature performances from Kylie Minogue, Robbie Williams, Kelly Rowland, Pentatonix, Montaigne and Olivia Newton-John, who also joined Goodrem on the pair’s joint song, ‘Merry Christmas To You’. A number of special guests, including Hamish Blake, will also make an appearance throughout the special.

“From drought to bushfires, floods and a global pandemic, 2020 has truly been a tough year for Aussies but it has not broken our spirit,” Goodrem said in a statement.

“Christmas holds a very special place in my heart, and I can’t wait to celebrate our great nation’s resilience through music and giving something back to the community during this holiday season.”

Nine will also be broadcasting its annual Carols by Candlelight on Christmas Eve, with the Melbourne station’s chief weather presenter Livinia Nixon making her hosting debut alongside smoothfm’s David Campbell.

Christmas with Delta will air on December 12 from 7.30pm on Nine and 9Now.
