Delta Goodrem lands fifth ARIA #1 album with Bridge Over Troubled Dreams

Delta Goodrem lands fifth ARIA #1 album with Bridge Over Troubled Dreams

Australian singer-songwriter Delta Goodrem has taken out the top spot on ARIA’s Albums Chart for the fifth time in her career with Bridge Over Troubled Dreams.

The album, which marks Goodrem’s seventh studio record, arrives only six months after her last full-length release Only Santa Knows, which hit the #2 spot late in December of last year.

Bridge Over Troubled Dreams is also issued alongside a book of the same name, which features a number of stories that delve into each song on the album.

With the album’s successful debut, Goodrem now draws equal second with country stalwart Kasey Chambers for most #1s on the ARIA Albums Chart by a local female solo artist, with Kylie Minogue (seven #1 albums) retaining first place.

Bridge Over Troubled Dreams is also the eighth Australian album to land at #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart so far in 2021, with Amy Shark, Skeggs, Tash Sultana, The Rubens, The Kid LAROI, Joff Bush and Illy also landing on top of the charts for their respective releases.

ARIA CEO Annabelle Herd congratulated Goodrem for her remarkable achievement.

“A huge congratulations to Delta Goodrem on reaching #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart with Bridge Over Troubled Dreams,” she said.

“Her fifth #1 album is a testament to her enduring appeal to fans nearly two decades on from her record-breaking debut, Innocent Eyes.”

Elsewhere on the charts, Australian ’90s rockers You Am I notched their first Top 10 entry in over 20 years with their eleventh studio album The Lives Of Others, landing at #2 on the ARIA Albums Chart.

Other new entries onto the Albums Chart included American rapper J Cole’s heavily anticipated release The Off-Season at #3, while Russ Millions & Tion Wayne’s ‘Body’ maintained its spot at the top of the Singles Chart for the second week in a row.
