Dean Lewis first to match Silverchair’s 11-year long Hot 100 record
Singer-songwriter Dean Lewis has reached another airplay milestone, becoming the first Australian act since Silverchair in 2007 to top the TMN Hot 100 for seven consecutive weeks.
Straight Lines stayed at #1 throughout September and October in 2007, before P!NK’s Leave Me Alone (I’m Lonely) ended the streak.
Prior to Silverchair, Youth Group’s Forever Young also had seven unbroken weeks at #1 in the latter stages of 2007.
While there’s no sign of Lewis slowing down any time soon, he still has a fair way to go to equal the all-time record for an Aussie artist held by former Powderfinger frontman Bernard Fanning.
ARIA Platinum single Wish You Well registered a whopping 13 consecutive weeks at #1 on the airplay chart, spanning the months of July – September 2006.
