Victoria’s Darebin Music Feast has kicked off its 2018 event

The Darebin Music Feast is back for another year, with its 2018 event kicking off today.

Back for its 22nd year, the Darebin Music Feast has been an integral part of the Victorian music scene, bringing with it a stunning selection of panels, discussions, and live music along the way.

Officially beginning today, the 2018 edition of the Darebin Music Feast takes place across eleven days, with 120 events occurring across 26 different venues. Packed to the brim with artists and musicians who represent and reflect the culturally diverse community of Darebin, this is one that music fans won’t want to miss.

“I’m so thrilled with what’s on offer in 2018. This year’s program is vast, rich and diverse,” explained Mayor Kim Le Cerf of this year’s event. “At its heart is a commitment to celebrating our local musicians, live music venues and music lovers.”

Undoubtedly, one of the biggest events at this year’s Feast is that of the SonicAGENDER program, which takes place this Friday at the Thornbury Bowling Club and features a roundtable discussion led by Jen Cloher.

Featuring the likes of Jenny McKechnie (Cable Ties), Romy Vager (RVG), Erica Dunn (Mod Con, TFS, Harmony), Barb Waters, Steph Crase (Summer Flake), Alice Skye, Linda Johnston (Little Ugly Girls, The Dacios) and Caroline Kennedy, it’s set to be a highly-informative afternoon which covers key themes of gender, songwriting, wall breaking and music making.

The Darebin Music Feast will also feature a number of other huge events, which can be viewed at the event’s official website. It all runs until October 28th, when the annual Closing Party is set to take place.

Featuring the likes of Banoffee, Clypso, Jaala, Jade Imagine, Jess Cornelius, Loose Tooth, Oetha, RVG, and more, it’s set to be an amazing way to close out another successful year for the Feast – and best of all, it’s totally free.
