Brisbane all-girl group Pink Matter and Perth-based act Your Girl Pho have signed to Daily Nightly Records, an imprint of Untitled Group.

TMN can exclusively reveal the two acts have respectively inked their first ever record deals with the label, which is run by the team behind Beyond The Valley festival.

They join Daily Nightly’s existing roster which includes BOO SEEKA, Big Words, London Topaz, Creature Fear, China and Picket Palace.

Pink Matter are a hot commodity at the moment, and having won a 2020 Queensland Music Award, they are following in a long-standing tradition of all-female band lineups.

Their style sits in an intersection between neo-soul, jazz and dance, and they’ve caught the eye of many both at home and abroad with performances at Laneway, Splendour In The Grass, and on support for Unknown Mortal Orchestra and The Internet.

Pink Matter will release their new single ‘You’ll Never Know’ featuring Harvey Sutherland through Daily Nightly Records on Friday, August 14.

“We are really excited about the direction the project is heading in, and are really proud to be a part of Daily Nightly alongside the talented lineup of artists they’ve curated for the label,” Pink Matter tell TMN.

“Our music is constantly evolving and we can’t wait to release what we’ve been working on with the support of the Daily Nightly team.”

Your Girl Pho, otherwise known as vocalist and producer Phoebe Gunson, has already seen her collaborate on big singles with Ukiyo (‘Calling’) and Mexican duo Tayrell (‘Stop By’).

She has also performed internationally at Festival Vaivén as part of a 2018 tour of Mexico with her four-piece live band, and was awarded Best Live Electronic Act act the 2019 WAM Awards.

Next up for Your Girl Pho is a new single titled ‘Surrender’, set to drop Friday, August 28.

“I’ve been hustling away in the Perth music scene for a minute now and to have the chance to create & release new content with the Daily Nightly team over East is so exciting and feels like the next step,” she revealed to TMN.

To also be able to have my name on the same roster as BOO SEEKA, London Topaz and now Pink Matter. I feel so honoured!”

Daily Night Records label manager Annabelle Daizel says she’s excited for the label to continue a tradition of championing Aussie female acts with these two signings.

“There’s so much overlooked female talent in this country and we’re excited to be championing some of it! We see bright futures for these artists.”
