Courtney Barnett nominated for UK award
Melbourne-based singer/songwriter Courtney Barnett continues her ascension in the international music scene with a nomination for an AIM Independent Music Award.
Barnett received her nomination in the category of Independent Breakthrough Of The Year after recently performing at Splendour In The Grass and gaining notoriety for her unique lyricism and deadpan delivery.
Barnett is up against fellow Splendour favourites Future Islands, London Grammar, Sohn and Young Fathers.
At 26-years-old, she has already played at some of the world’s biggest international festivals like Coachella, Lollapalooza and Glastonbury, and in March she performed on US talk show The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
Courtney’s The Double Sea EP: A Sea Of Split Peas, released via her own Milk! Records imprint in March, lead to sell out shows in New York and helped establish her presence in the US.
With her nomination for a British Music Award now another notch on her belt, she is set to tour Australia, hitting all major cities from September 25.
