Courtney Act to host ABC’s new season of One Plus One
Australian singer, performer and drag artist Courtney Act is set to host the new season of ABC TV’s in-depth interview series One Plus One.
Returning on Monday June 28 at 8pm AEST, One Plus One will see Act interview a range of young Australians, with each episode offering a deep dive into the career achievements, failures, beliefs and personal story of each guest.
Guests locked in to appear on this year’s series include Lisa Origliasso of The Veronicas, Indigenous singer/songwriter Mitch Tambo, viral YouTube sensation Nat’s What I Reckon, South Sudanese Australian model Aweng Chuol and Food Frontier founder and social entrepreneur Thomas King.
Act said that she was looking forward to flipping the script and assuming the role of interviewer for the series.
“It’s not often I get the chance to be the person actually asking the questions and so this was a wonderful opportunity to feed my curious nature and delve into the lives and stories of these really captivating people,” Act said.
Last year’s season of One Plus One saw ABC veteran Barrie Cassidy return to the public broadcaster to explore the theme of leadership over eight episodes, with guests including Australian Cricket Team coach Justin Langer, investigative journalist Kate McClymont and Bawley Point rural fire brigade captain Charlie Magnusson.
Act also co-hosts the Brenda, Call Me! podcast alongside fellow drag performer Vanity.
The Nova Podcasts’ title covers whatever had the duo “fired up” that week, from drag, to their own lives and the world around them.
“From the political to the downright silly, no topic is off limits. They’ll even call up a celebrity friend along the way to help them nut it out,” Nova publicity said when the podcast was released.
“The show is camp, high energy and features plenty of sass, with each wildly entertaining episode transporting you into the conversation, no matter where you are in the world.”
