Cooking Vinyl Australia partners with New York label Razor & Tie
Leigh Gruppetta and Stu Harvey’s Cooking Vinyl Australia has partnered with New York-based independent label Razor & Tie.
The team-up will see Cooking Vinyl Australia represent Razor & Tie’s metal and rock signings in both Australia and New Zealand including Yellowcard, All That Remains, Starset, Such Gold and The Sword.
Harvey, who has worked with Parkway Drive, Bring Me The Horizon, Thy Art Is Murder and All That Remains during his time with Shock Records, told TMN the time is ripe for a team-up such as this.
“It’s pretty simple, I don’t think heavy music has been more popular in Australia. Artists such as The Amity Affliction, Parkway Drive, Thy Art Is Murder, King Parrot, Northlane are all doing so well both locally and internationally, its building interest and a genuine sense of pride in the amazing music this country produces. Add to that the fact that Soundwave is the biggest travelling festival in Australia; doing incredible numbers and spoiling metal and rock fans with the caliber of bills they’re putting together and touring around the country each year. Heavy music is on top of the pile, where it should be!”
Harvey has said it’s not the first time he’s worked with the North American indie.
“I’ve been fortunate enough to work with Razor & Tie many times over the years and developed a strong relationship with their team,” said Harvey. “The rock roster they have built is one of the most impressive in the US and we are excited about representing the artists and label in Australia and New Zealand. Razor & Tie have a great team and they have a bunch of exciting announcements in the works”
Razor & Tie’s Executive Vice President of Business and Legal Affairs Dan Hoffman said, “We are excited to be working with the team at Cooking Vinyl Australia and looking forward to success with our rock releases.
The first offering from the new partnership will be the third LP from Salt Lake City deathcore band Chelsea Grin in Australia and New Zealand on July 11. Cooking Vinyl Australia is also expected to a release from Yellowcard soon.
