Cooking Vinyl Australia signs Jenny Mitchell
Cooking Vinyl Australia has added New Zealand singer-songwriter Jenny Mitchell to its roster.
The signing, along with her new single ‘Somehow’, will be used to further push the New Zealand native in Australia, Cooking Vinyl Australia’s Leigh Gruppetta said.
“We were first introduced to Jenny’s music by Fanny [Lumdsen], so naturally we were all ears. Jenny’s turn of phrase and natural gift of storytelling is duly recognised in New Zealand, and we’re so thrilled to join her team to help break ground in Australia and internationally,” Gruppetta said.
The new single was produced by Matt Fell and charts Mitchell’s feelings as she realised someone close to her was struggling and she was too caught up in her own world to recognise the signs.
“It’s a reminded to check in with those we care about, but also an acknowledgement that there’s often no easy for for mental health and sometimes all our loved ones need is to know there’s someone walking alongside them, rather than trying to ‘fix’ them,” she said.
“This is the first track I worked on remotely with my producer Matt. I knew I wanted to work with him again, despite the obvious border obstacles, so I recorded ‘Somehow’ on my tiny studio home, sent it to Matt and we worked on it via Zoom calls and emails.”
