Concert tracker app now sending alerts for new gig live streams

WhatsLively is now sending concert alerts for new live streams that are being announced during this social distancing and quarantine period.

It’s no surprise COVID-19 has completely compromised the Australian music industry. 65,000 events have been cancelled across Australia as indoor gatherings of more than 100 people are now banned, and the country readies a complete lockdown. 380,000 people working in the arts have been left without work, and the music industry alone has lost $300M from cancelled gigs.

But while the industry is in crisis, music fans, now more than ever, need to feel connected. Thankfully concert tracker app Whatslively is shining a light on the many local artists who have taken the initiative to organise free live streams for their fans via Facebook and Instagram.

Hayden James will be doing a live set from his backyard every Saturday, local DJ MaRLo will be live streaming his usual sets at Marquee but with an empty crowd, and with the overarching success of Isolaid on the weekend – thanks to sets from the likes of Stella Donnelly, Didirri and Julia Jacklin, among others – fans are hoping to see more Australian music enter their homes.

Whatslively is now sending notifications to fans of these artists whenever they announce live streams, as if they were actual concerts.

“At time when we’re missing live music, it’s great to see the industry pull together and keep our spirits alive with what we love the most – music,” said Whatslively CEO, Trishanth Chandrahasan.

The Whatslively app is free to download, but you can check out everything you need to know about them here.
