Commandeur signs to Risqué Music, unveils new single

Formerly of the ARIA-Award winning Aussie outfit Operator Please, Tim Commandeur has inked a label deal with Risqué Music with his solo project Commandeur.

In the years since winning an ARIA as a teenager, Commandeur has performed live with names including PNAU, Tkay Maidza, Dua Lipa, King Princess, Panama and Hot Dub Time Machine.

Now Commandeur is taking centre stage, releasing his new single ‘Nothing Else’, the first taste of more new music due out in 2020, all through Sydney label Risqué.

TMRW Music A&R manager Simon Lewicki tells TMN he listened to some demos and knew straight away that Commandeur would work well at Risqué.

“I’ve been following Tim for some time now and when we finally got to chatting about music and I got to hear some demos, I knew straight away I wanted to see what we could do together musically and knew he’d be a great fit for the Risqué label and TMRW Music family,” he says.

“Tim has such a deep knowledge and understanding of just about all genres of music, is a deft hand at many instruments and he can really throw down in the studio.

“His passion and enthusiasm is truly infectious and I’m so excited to welcome him to the label. I can’t wait for everyone to hear Commandeur 2020!”

‘Nothing Else’ features vocals by Jesse Boykins III, recorded in LA, with the track written between Australian, Indonesia and the US.

“Coming from a band background, it’s been a somewhat daunting leap moving into a solo project. I feel lucky to have the support of the Risqué family going into this next chapter,” Tim Commandeur tells TMN.

“Working with Simon ‘GT’ Lewicki has been incredible and his advice and knowledge is second to none. Along with my peers and the rest of the team at Risqué and TMRW, I’m excited to take Commandeur to new lengths; both with my recordings and on the live stage.”

‘Nothing Else’ is just the beginning of a massive 2020 for Commandeur, with plenty more new music on the way.
