Chart Wrap: The Veronicas take #1 Australian album

Topping the chart for its sixth week in a row is Ed Sheeran’s Thinking Out Loud which goes yet another week uncontested. At #2 is Taylor Swift’s Blank Space which is up from #6 and could very well have the potential to overthrow Sheeran’s single, although it still has a considerable lead in airplay.At #3 is Meghan Trainor’s Lips Are Movin which maintains its position for a second week. Up at #7 from its previous #18 debut is Mark Ronson’s Uptown Funk featuring Bruno Mars and is also one of the week’s most moved tracks. TMN suspects that this track will be entering the Top 5, possibly even 3 come this week’s chart.Just making the Top 10 this week is Nico & Vinz’s In Your Arms which makes #9 up from #12.
Other notable movers this week come from Will Sparks’ Ah Yeah So What featuring Wiley & Elen Levon which is up at #13 from #27 and may even break the Top 10 this week. Charli XCX’s Break The Rules is up at #34 from #49 and FUSE ODG’s T.I.N.A makes #41 up from #60. The most moved however,comes in the form of One Direction’s Night Changes which moved from #98 to #39, a total of 59 positions. Some noteworthy debuts can be seen as well this week from Clean Bandit & Jess Glynne’s Real Love at #32 and Tiesto & DBX’s Light Years Away entering at #36.
ARIA Singles
The singles chart also keeps last week’s #1 with Taylor Swift’s Blank Space maintaining a lead ahead of the other tracks, that said this week’s #2 Uptown Funk by Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars could very well be the track to push her off of the top spot as week two sales have proven to be extremely strong. At #5 is a very high debut on the Singles chart form The Veronicas’ If You Love Someone, which can still be expected to climb in the coming weeks. Another high debut comes in at #12 from James Newton Howard with the single The Hanging Tree taken off of the soundtrack to Mocking Jay. Yet another debut is seen within the Top 20, this time from Nicki Minaj with Bed Of Lies featuringSkylar Grey.
ARIA Albums
The ARIA Albums chart sees a familiar face at #1 this week with Taylor Swift’s 1989 back up at the top spot, up from last week’s #2. At #2 is a new debut from The Veronicas with their self titled album, their first appearance on the chart since 2007. The LP has already been certified Gold. Two new debuts come in at #5 and #6 from Dean Ray’s Self Titled and Guy Sebastian’s Madness respectively.Dean Ray’s new material is his debut release and features his #5 charting single Coming Back, a very strong start for the X Factor runner-up. Madness is Sebastian’s eighth album and the follow up to his previous #1 charting Armageddon.Another noteworthy debutcomes in at #11 from David Guetta’s Listen, his sixth album to date and fourth to chart in the country.
